In the location's words:

The Lernbauernhof is the Schulte-Tigges family's traditional farm in Dortmund-Derne with lots of animals and plants to touch.

Here, children and young people can learn about the natural basics of food production and its interrelationships and have fun developing practical relationships through their own work in real-life situations.

However, our visits are not primarily about pure factual knowledge about agriculture, but rather about strengthening and teaching skills and values in the sense of education for sustainable development (ESD).

We believe that food and agriculture play a central role in the question: How do we want to live in the future? With community-supported agriculture, we have found a way to implement our ideas of sustainable agriculture with a group of people from the Dortmund area and to shape them together: in solidarity, regionally and ecologically. With our educational work, we start with education for sustainable development even with the youngest children: to experience the feeling that we can make a difference together and shape our world through practical action; to learn where our food actually comes from - and to encourage a thirst for discovery and an appreciation for nature, the environment and all living things around us.
