Hofgarten Düsseldorf

It is the first and oldest public garden in Germany: Düsseldorf's Hofgarten, the inner-city green lung of the Rhine metropolis, was laid out as early as 1769. It stretches from Jacobistraße with Jägerhof Palace and the adjacent Malkasten grounds to Heinrich-Heine-Allee and from the northern end of Königsallee to the Ehrenhof on the banks of the Rhine. The park measures just under 28 hectares and marks the transition from a strictly baroque garden style to a natural English landscape garden. A good third of it is meadows where nature lovers can romp.
