Kampnagel is Europe's largest production center for the independent performing arts with six event halls and outdoor areas. As such, it realizes and promotes works at the interfaces of theater, performance, dance, music, visual arts and architecture. The program consists of international guest performances and co-productions, works by the independent Hamburg scene, themed series and festivals, including the International Summer Festival, which takes place under its own artistic direction for three weeks each August.

Kampnagel creates connections between different artistic languages and regularly enters into dialog with activists and scientists. The special promotion of transcultural, queer and cross-generational projects and artists is intended to provide (cultural) political impetus. This not only promotes outstanding artistic methods and experiments, but also the utopian potential of the arts to create alternative strategies for action.

K3 - Zentrum für Choreographie | Tanzplan Hamburg, located at Kampnagel, was founded in 2007 as part of the Tanzplan Deutschland initiative and is now a competence center for contemporary dance, choreography and artistic research. In addition to projects in the field of cultural education/dance education and qualification opportunities for professional dance makers, it also offers young choreographers the opportunity to deepen and present their work in an eight-month residency program. In the 2016/17 season, around 180,000 visitors attended, the institutional funding from the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media amounted to 5.1 million euros and the total budget for the season was 9.8 million euros.

The Box Office is open on performance days from one hour before the first performance.
