Kasseler Kunstverein

The Kasseler Kunstverein was founded in 1835 as an independent forum for the promotion and communication of contemporary art. It was one of the first of its kind in Germany and stands in the tradition of civic commitment.

Today, with its 500 square meter exhibition space on the first floor of the Museum Fridericianum in the city center, the Kunstverein offers artists a unique field for experimentation.

The annual programme of up to four exhibitions is developed and realized on a voluntary basis by a curatorial board. The focus is on solo and group exhibitions by national and international artists.

In addition, there are numerous cooperation projects such as the annual media art exhibition Monitoring in collaboration with the Kassel DokFest, the awarding of the Arnold Bode Prize of the City of Kassel and the Kassel Art Prize of the Dr. Wolfgang Zippel Foundation, theater projects, performances and concerts.
