Your starting point is the extensive palace gardens, one of the city's most popular green spaces. Surrounded by the baroque Erlangen Palace, the grounds with their symmetrical paths, old trees and seasonal flowerbeds actually invite you to linger - but this is where the search for clues begins for you. Right next door is the Botanical Garden, one of the oldest in Germany, which impresses with its variety of plants from all over the world.

From there, the trail leads you into Erlangen's city centre, which is characterized by a mixture of historical architecture and lively city life. At Neustädter Kirchplatz, you will come across the impressive Huguenot Church, which commemorates the history of the French religious refugees who shaped Erlangen in the 17th century.

Continue to the market square, the city's central meeting point. Here you will find the Pauli Fountain and the Margrave Monument, both of which are reminders of Erlangen's development into a planned Baroque town. Between small stores, cafés and restaurants, the city shows its open, inviting side.
