The art and literature studio Galerie-7 has been a place for all kinds of art, culture and literature for over 60 years.
The small cultural center was founded in 1961 by artist and writer Artur K. Führer and Günter Wockenfuss as Kunst und Literaturkontor Galerie-7 and has been known as a cultural center and exhibition space far beyond Bottrop's borders over the years.
In 2017, Bottrop author Bettina Döblitz took over Galerie-7 from Artur Führer and keeps "Bottrop's little cultural living room" alive, financed purely by donations.
The Literaturkontor became the Literaturstudio Galerie-7.
Author readings, art exhibitions and live concerts with singer/songwriters take place there on a regular basis. There is no entrance fee for the events, but the artist's hat does the rounds, which is shared 1-1 between authors or artists and Galerie-7.
Art and culture should be accessible to everyone and visitors give what they can. The income is used to cover the fixed costs for the premises.
The events take place as so-called "living room events" and the artists perform directly in front of or between the guests, making it easier for them to enter into a dialog with the artists, musicians or authors. This has already led to many stimulating conversations.
The Galerie-7 art and literature studio is also a social meeting place and a tourist attraction. It strengthens socio-cultural ties and also offers young and less well-known artists, authors and musicians a platform to promote their artistic expression.
Bottrop needs this place of culture, it is important for the vibrancy of the city and as a platform for creative people.
The Egon Bremer Cultural Foundation supports the art and literature studio Galerie-7 with an annual donation. Together with the proceeds from the hat, a large part of the fixed costs can be covered - but as there are also costs for advertising, fees etc., the account is always in the red at the end of the year....

Please support the Kulturstudio Galerie-7 so that the continuation of funding is secured and Galerie-7 can continue to flourish as a place of art and culture.
