The Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg is a firmly established place for art. A lively place for all those who are interested in art or want to get to know it, who are inspired by it or want to work their way through it, who dare to think outside the box and who enjoy the new, the unusual and sometimes the provocative. The Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg is a place for the curious and a place for enjoyment: for a short break from everyday life, to immerse yourself in other worlds and be fascinated by them.

We live in a time of parallel crises, some of which are mutually dependent and reinforcing: Climate catastrophe, pandemic, war, increasing social division - to name just the most serious. They all affect us to varying degrees and sooner or later influence all of our lives. While the changes associated with crises are perceived as threatening by most people, art is a reliable constant that is also able to create hope and confidence. With its never-ending creativity, it offers a positive energy, a dynamic of continuous development that can offer moments of joy and allow us to look to the future. Like no other form of culture, art allows us to experience events of great intensity and beauty, to make extraordinary aesthetic discoveries, irritating encounters or even consciousness-raising experiences, but also to have fun and enjoy profitable discussions that often have a long-lasting effect. All these experiences bring people from different countries, generations and parts of society together and give them and ultimately all of us a sense of unity that is increasingly important for safeguarding our free and democratic basic order.

The Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg presents important artistic positions within the framework of themed or solo exhibitions and examines relevant aspects of human culture both with the exhibitions and with the accompanying publications. In addition, presentations are repeatedly conceived from the rich holdings of our collection or the works are presented in larger contexts - from small-format drawings or photographs to large-format paintings and impressive spatial installations. The artistic view of the world has been part of the collection from the very beginning, as has taking up acute issues and transforming critical questions into art. Particularly against the backdrop of the climate crisis, we are increasingly thinking "green" and sustainably, because it is important to us to further reduce the consumption of resources in our building and to make our contribution to reducing_{CO2 emissions} and other environmentally friendly measures. Mastering this task while maintaining the consistently high quality of our exhibitions is one of the many challenges of the future that we and our entire team are facing with commitment and confidence.

Together with innovative and contemporary forms of analog and digital art education, which allow our visitors to actively participate in the exhibitions in different and always surprising formats, the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg offers the opportunity to engage with global art at an international level in its unique spaces - or simply to have fun with family or friends and enjoy the inspiring diversity of art.
