The Kaltehofe waterworks is an industrial monument and natural space. Hamburg was supplied with clean drinking water from here from 1893.

Most of the filter basins of the sand filter system have been preserved and can be visited free of charge during opening hours. There are also numerous guided tours that provide information about the history of Kaltehof.

The former Hygienic Institute of the City of Hamburg, which is part of the Wasserkunst, is now home to the "Altes Labor" information center, which is accessible free of charge during opening hours and provides an initial insight into the history of the Kaltehofe waterworks.

April bis Oktober: Mittwoch bis Samstag und an Feiertagen 10 - 18 Uhr.
