AL MOSTA’MERA basiert auf einer wahren Geschichte und handelt von zwei Brüdern, dem 23-jährigen Unruhestifter Hossam und dem 12-jährigen Maro, die in einer marginalisierten Gemeinde in Alexandria leben. Nachdem ihr Vater bei einem Arbeitsunfall in einer Fabrik ums Leben gekommen ist, werden sie von derselben Fabrik als „Entschädigung“f ür ihren Verlust eingestellt, anstatt den Rechtsweg zu beschreiten. Während sie sich in ihren neuen Jobs zurechtfinden, beginnen sie sich zu fragen, ob der Tod ihres Vaters wirklich ein Unfall war und wie sie die Angelegenheit regeln sollen. Der Sozialthriller ist Mohamed Rashads Spielfilmdebüt und feierte bei der Berlinale 2025 seine Weltpremiere.

AL MOSTA’MERA - is based on a true story and is about two brothers, 23-year-old troublemaker Hossam and 12-year-old Maro, who live in a marginalized community in Alexandria. After their father is killed in a work accident at a factory, they are hired by the same factory as“compensation” for their loss instead of taking legal action. As they find their feet in their new jobs, they begin to wonder if their father’s death was really an accident and how they should settle the matter. The social thriller is Mohamed Rashad’s feature film debut and celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale 2025.
