In this SCetch Camp session, we’ll explore the rich, bold, and tactile world of oil pastels. This medium is not about perfection — it is about expression, texture, color, and artistic energy.

​Our academic focus will be texture and mark-making. We’ll experiment with different ways of using oil pastels: layering, blending, scratching, hatching, changing pressure, and creating rough or smooth surfaces.

​We’ll first build a small “texture library” with surfaces like fur, leaves, fabric, wood, clouds, water, or stone. Then we’ll use these textures in a final expressive artwork — for example a fantasy plant, cozy still life, animal, landscape, or abstract composition.

​No previous experience is needed. We are here to explore, try things out, and learn together in a soft, creative, cozy atmosphere. Materials are provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own oil pastels or favorite sketchbook if you like.
​You’ll learn:
How to create different textures, how to use expressive strokes, and how to make your drawing feel more vivid, dynamic, and personal.
