Eclectic & psychedelic selections from Red Axes, D. Tiffany and Sam Goku!

The DJ & producer duo Red Axes emerged as the remaining core of the former post-punk band Red Cotton: reducing them to mere dance punks (or Beach Goths, the name of one of their albums) falls short. While it might help grasp their unorthodox approach, it doesn’t capture the bubbling, hypnotic appeal and creativity of Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi’s colourful sound. A trip to Amsterdam ignited the former bandmates’ curiosity in dance music, and since then the pair have excelled with a trippy blend of analogue psychedelia and the rattling rhythms of House and Techno. Releases on imprints like Munich’s Permanent Vacation, Hivern Discs and Crosstown Rebels helped bring their music to the dancefloor of the world. > It may not be club music, but it is party music.<  Resident Advisor once described their music. Red Axes are here to reconcile guitar music and club music — if there was ever any doubt about their coexistence.

Like Red Axes, D. Tiffany grew up playing guitar and in bands, and shares an equally kaleidoscopic approach to music, albeit through very different forms. The Canadian shapeshifter and Planet Euphorique labelhead draws from Trance, House, Breakbeat, Electro and beyond, crafting bright but never blinding soundscapes and juicy, bouncy grooves: immersive and uplifting, drifting dancefloor delight.

Munich’s Sam Goku’s influences stretch far and wide, and so does his colour palette. His dazzling > Club Random < mixes are a prime example of his intuitive and sophisticated musical vision, brimming with engrossing textures, moods and infectious grooves, with little regard for genre boundaries.
