Bubbles is tightly crafted, brilliantly acted indie cinema from Germany. The film tells a gripping story about the beliefs we use to construct our identities – and how those beliefs begin to falter quickly, when we’re confronted with ghosts from the past. Fiete and his girlfriend Amiri go to a holiday home by the sea, where Fiete’s childhood friend unexpectedly shows up. Suddenly, the dynamic between the three shifts, and old stories resurface – stories that Fiete had long suppressed and that don’t quite align with Amiri ‘s image of him.

Bubbles ist dichtes, fantastisch gespieltes Indie-Kino aus Deutschland. Der Film erzählt intensiv und mitreißend von den Glaubenssätzen, aus denen wir unsere Identität konstruieren – und wie diese ins Wanken geraten, wenn wir auf Geister der Vergangenheit treffen. Fiete und seine Freundin Amiri fahren in ein Ferienhaus am Meer, wo unverhofft Fietes alter Freund aus Kindertagen auftaucht. Schlagartig verändert sich die Dynamik zwischen den Dreien und alte Geschichten werden hochgespült, die Fiete längst verdrängt hatte – und die gar nicht in das Bild passen wollen, was Amiri von ihm hat.
