Maz and the Phantasms are a high-energy psychedelic surf punk band from Glasgow, formed by Catalan-Egyptian artist Maz and her friends Jamie Sparkles (guitar), Jude Norton-Smith (bass) and Toby Valentine (drums).
Born out of dive bars, DIY tours and late-night jams, the band mixes beach-goth guitars, funky basslines, and spooky synths with a touch of spaghetti-western swagger. Equal parts punk and charity shop glam, their shows are chaotic, sweaty and full of drama, where rock’n’roll meets queer theatrics and the party always gets a little silly.
Rooted in Glasgow’s community, Maz and the Phantasms have carved their path by gigging across Europe, playing in squats, living rooms, crusty festivals, free parties and anywhere with a half-working PA. Their debut self-titled EP captures that raw, unfiltered energy, featuring the lead single “Voices in My Head”, a surf-punk anthem for restless souls dancing to their own beat.
