Viele von ihnen ziehen auf das fruchtbare, gut bewässerte Land, das noch aus der Kolonialzeit im Besitz weißer Farmer ist. Dadurch nehmen die Spannungen zwischen den Gruppen stetig zu. Der dokumentarisch und gleichzeitig spannungsgeladen inszenierte Film beleuchtet die Perspektiven beider Seiten und liefert dabei wertvolle historische sowie politische Einblicke. THE BATTLE FOR LAIKIPIA zeigt ein Land, das sowohl mit den Nachwirkungen des britischen Kolonialismus als auch mit den Herausforderungen des Klimawandels ringt.

The ongoing drought is forcing more and more nomadic communities in Laikipia and other regions of Kenya to abandon their traditional habitats. Many of them are moving to the fertile, well-watered land that is still owned by white farmers from the colonial era. As a result, tensions between the groups are constantly increasing. This documentary-style film, which is also full of tension, sheds light on the perspectives of both sides and provides valuable historical and political insights. THE BATTLE FOR LAIKIPIA shows a country struggling with both the consequences of British colonialism and the challenges of climate change.
