12. Festival Politik im Freien Theater in Leipzig

The 12th Politics in Independent Theater Festival presents 16 innovative and cross-genre guest performances from the independent theater and dance scene under the motto "Borders". In addition to the theater program, there are around 150 other events and projects with different formats - city walks, film screenings, readings, discussions, exhibitions, art projects, concerts and workshops.

The festival spans almost the entire city of Leipzig with its venues and also creates diverse connections to the region. In terms of content, it is about drawing and crossing borders in different contexts. The overall program has been developed in collaboration with numerous local and regional cultural and educational partners. The festival is aimed at interested parties of all ages and a specialist audience from the fields of theater, culture, politics and education. Everyone is cordially invited to explore the multifaceted aspects of the topic of "borders" and to discuss them.

The Politics in Independent Theatre Festival is organized every three years in a different city by the Federal Agency for Civic Education/bpb and local partners. The 12th edition of the festival is a cooperation between the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the theaters LOFFT - DAS THEATER, Schaubühne Lindenfels, Schauspiel Leipzig, THEATER DER JUNGEN WELT and Westflügel Leipzig.

The 12th Festival Politik im Freien Theater is funded by the City of Leipzig. The funding was made possible by the resolution of the Leipzig City Council on the submission VII-DS-06803 "12th Festival 'Politik im Freien Theater' 2025 in Leipzig" and by the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget adopted by the Saxon State Parliament.
