Festival opening

Films, international guests and live music

The festival will be opened by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese, the patron of the 22nd Africa Film Festival Cologne. The international festival guests, who are already coming to Cologne for the opening, will be welcomed by the musician Mirta. The opening will be followed by a drink, sponsored by KIOSK - Arts Exchange e. V. and other cooperation partners, in the foyer of the Filmforum.

Mamadou and Junior would have everything they need to be the best friends in the world if their two grandfathers, a famous photographer and a writer, who were good friends, could get along again. But because of an unfinished movie they wanted to shoot together, they broke off their relationship and both their families bear a bitter grudge. To invite Mamadou to his birthday party, Junior has an idea: what if they find this movie and finish it themselves...

This Cuban proverb aptly reflects the wisdom that Mirta J. Wambrug has internalized in Cuba. Growing up in a world full of challenges, she learned early on to pursue her dreams with unwavering positive energy, no matter what obstacles stood in her way. All of these experiences find expression in her music: a harmonious fusion of soul, funk and the joie de vivre of Latin American rhythms that merge into a soulful, thoughtful but always hopeful body of work. Her sounds sparkle with energy and warmth and cast a spell over every listener. Over the years, she has worked with numerous renowned artists, including Joe Cocker, Jennifer Paige, Gentleman, Jan Delay and many more. Her dedication and skill have made her an indispensable part of the local music community.
