The Cologne-Bonn Mental Health Week takes place every two years in the Cologne/Bonn region around World Mental Health Day (October 10). With this week of action, its organizers want to enable all interested people to take a closer look at their own mental health. Numerous individual event organizers will be opening their doors from October 7 to 17, 2025 to help break down prejudices against mental illness.
In a diverse program for young and old, citizens will be offered lectures, workshops, taster courses, art exhibitions, film screenings, readings and much more - all on the topic of "mental health", partly online and mostly free of charge.
Dr. Heinz-Wilhelm Esser ("Doc Esser") is this year's patron of the campaign week. The doctor and health expert is committed to providing information, breaking down prejudices and encouraging people to actively look after their mental health. "The initiative raises awareness, offers support and shows that no one has to be alone with their worries," says Doc Esser. Together, all those involved are working hard to get the topic of mental health out of the taboo zone.
