Shortly after the turn of the millennium, a few friends decide to form the band Alarmsignal to escape the dreariness of everyday life in the small town of Celle. The first songs are quickly written. The clubs they play in get bigger with every album and soon they are also welcome guests at larger festivals. Insomnia" is now their ninth studio album. The title of the album aptly describes the sleepless nights that many of us are having in these troubled times. Singer and bassist Steff explains: "On a political and social level, many things are robbing us of sleep: the stupidity, the ignorance, the selfishness, the hatred and the backward-looking nature of humanity. It's 2025 and instead of learning from the past, Europe is moving further and further to the right. Far-right language and hate speech are becoming more and more acceptable, among politicians, in society, everywhere. Social networks are full of racism, anti-Semitism, fake news and horrific sexism or homophobia."

Many of the songs on the new album are attempts to understand the increasingly complex world or to express a lack of understanding, to process both external events and internal contradictions and thoughts, as well as to bring a little order to the chaos that surrounds us all day after day. Alarmsignal's live performances confirm their status as one of the best-known and busiest German punk bands.
