ALL'ARME

An intense evening of dance that gets under your skin in its form - minimalist, expressive and with a delicate power.

"To arms!" A warning call that simultaneously calls for readiness and defense. It is precisely this tension between individual agency and collective power that six dancers explore in this precise choreographic work by Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi. They explore the fine line between necessary defense and the risk of becoming what we fear most: a mass intoxicated by itself that knows no morality. The starting point is the (a)rhythmic potential of the human step in all its possibilities. ALL'ARME is a powerful dance piece that works very associatively with body images and leaves plenty of room for interpretation. We think we are watching a (military) parade, a mass event - or have we landed in the middle of a sports festival or a rock concert? Suddenly, out of the crowd, we encounter individuals showing their wounds, helping, holding, supporting and picking each other up. Images of tender vulnerability turn into images of enormous strength. We see dancers struggling and proving themselves, being scrutinized and judged and sometimes dancing out of line. A constant interplay. The production touches us with its virtuoso exploration of the boundaries between protection and aggression, strength and vulnerability.

It walks the fine line between group and individual, empowerment and oppression - and at the same time allows the disarming humanity of weakness to shine through.
