ALLEGAEON, GOROD und ABYSMAL DAWN

For the technical death metal band Allegaeon, standing still is not an option. The Colorado-based group has never resigned itself to stagnation, but rather thrives on chaos, change and further development. Their latest album, "The Ossuary Lens", is their seventh, but above all the first with original singer Ezra Haynes since his departure in 2015 after the album "Elements Of The Infinite". Replacing a singer is no easy task, so the fact that Haynes was willing to step back in is cause for celebration.

The clearer vocal approach on the last three albums was an intriguing artistic move that reinvigorated Allegaeon, but it's undeniably exciting to hear Haynes' raspy voice again on this undeniably brutal and technically brilliant work. The lyrics are as sophisticated as the progressive musicianship, resulting in a set of songs that simply blow you away. Although not a concept album in the traditional sense, there is an overarching theme to the new album - "The Ossuary Lens" is a representation of different perspectives on death.

Gorod are considered one of the most important bands in the tech-death scene in France. Hailing from Bordeaux, the band achieved their worldwide breakthrough in the USA and continue to build their reputation thanks to countless tours through Europe, North America, Japan and Southeast Asia. Their album "The Orb" was released in 2023.

Gorod are by no means just a band that plays classic technical death metal, they strive to diversify their inspirations. With a unique groove mixed with melodies and rich harmonies from 70's jazz, funk and rock, their progressive and sophisticated approach gives them a unique identity.

American death metal masters Abysmal Dawn released their album "Phylogenesis" in 2020. Not that Abysmal Dawn have retired since the release of their highly acclaimed album "Obsolescence" in 2014. Quite the opposite. They toured North America four times and visited Europe and South America for the first time. To say that "Phylogenesis" is an extension or continuation of "Obsolescence" is not quite as simple as it should be. On the one hand, all of Abysmal Dawn's trademarks - technical sophistication, brutality and melody - are still firmly anchored in the song structure. On the other hand, the band's fifth album is more coherent, rhythmically more sophisticated and far more experimental.
