From October 2 to 31, 2025, the Historisches Museum Hannover is presenting the exhibition "Alles Neu!" on the Opernplatz. The show highlights the impressive changes to the city between 1965 and 1975. Ten large-format photographs document Hanover's transformation and invite visitors to take a closer look at the city's history.

In the decade between 1965 and 1975, the city of Hanover was rapidly given a new face. Many major projects of the time still shape the city today: subway railroad construction between Waterloo and the station, Ihme-Zentrum, Lister Meile, the transformation of the city center into a pedestrian zone.... In the mid-1960s, a spirit of optimism and optimism about the future characterized the transformation of the city, followed by a mood of crisis and stagnation in the mid-1970s.

The exhibition shows 10 large-format photos that document the transformation of the city between 1965-75. The pictures on display show us how much the places and squares changed during this period.

The pictures will be presented as an outdoor exhibition on Opernplatz in the heart of the city, in Hannover's cultural triangle. It aims to encourage passers-by to engage with the city, urban design and the transformation of urban space in public spaces. It also indirectly refers to the redesign of Prinzenstraße in the area to create a blue-green cultural promenade: work will continue here until 2027 to adapt the city center to climate change and an artistic competition will be held - a showcase project in the city.

The accompanying program includes guided tours on the topic - starting from the nearby "Hannover Kiosk" (Karmarschstraße 40). The contents of the exhibition are also to be made accessible and expanded in a digital presentation.

Alles neu! is an exhibition format of the Historical Museum in the Kulturdreieck. Opening with welcoming speeches and discourse: October 2, 2025 at 6 p.m. on Opernplatz, Free admission.
