In the 1980s in the port city of Le Havre in Normandy, Alpha is the only child of a young doctor who works with viral patients in a closed hospital ward. When Alpha comes home with a tattoo on her arm, her mother worries about what disease she might have caught from the tattoo artist's needle. Alpha hardly knows her uncle, who is HIV-positive and a hopeless junkie. When he turns up at their house, close to death and scarred by his illness, things change.
After TITANE , Ducournau's third feature film also celebrated its world premiere in Cannes. A film about the fear of losing loved ones, about bodies that let us down, about traumas that we pass on - ALPHA, starring Golshifteh Farahani and Tahar Rahim, leaves a lasting impression.

Présenté à Cannes en mai dernier, Alpha parle de la peur de perdre ceux qu'on aime, de nos corps qui nous trahissent, des traumatismes que l'on transmet.
