As an astronaut in space, one looks at the earth in its entirety and territorial borders disappear - the quartet also addresses this change of perspective in its music. ANTIGUA presents different genres, combining elements of European gypsy jazz with Latin American music. The lyrics, sung in German, Portuguese, English and Spanish, musically transcend several generational and national boundaries. Retro and hip at the same time, the band led by Elsa Johanna Mohr, who was awarded the New German Jazz Prize in 2023, creates a cozy familiarity and surprises with wit and compositional innovation.
