Antisemitismus in den Medien

Recently, there has been a growing feeling that anti-Semitism is on the rise again in Germany and that the media play a significant role in this.

In an introductory lecture, language and anti-Semitism researcher Monika Schwarz-Friesel will shed light on the topic from a scientific perspective and discuss whether this assumption is correct. She will show which prejudices and forms of expression are new and which have always existed. To what extent does the media play a role in dealing with anti-Semitic prejudices and stereotypes? And can we currently identify the use of anti-Semitic language in the media?

Following the lecture, Volker Beck, Nathalie Friedlender and Abraham Lehrer, together with Monika Schwarz-Friesel, will discuss the various aspects of anti-Semitism in the media of our time. Herbert von Halem will moderate the discussion.
