APPETIT

In the organizer's words:

APPETITE does not arise from a lack. It is an expression of purposeful desire and a space of anticipation - how something tastes even before it touches the tongue. In the exhibition, consumption becomes the starting point for an investigation of female desire and the complexity of feelings that accompany it.

The three positions on display, Michelle Jekel, Irina Prager and Isabelle Weber, negotiate in an interdisciplinary way how food serves as a cipher for much deeper dynamics.

Absorbing something completely and crossing physical boundaries tells of intimate closeness as well as potential erasure. These simultaneities can be found again and again in the works on display. They are rooted in a deeply strained relationship to one's own sexuality. In a reality full of measures and latent threats, pure lust can no longer be separated from the knowledge of one's own vulnerability.
