Art in the concrete: Art Bazaar plays the Ehrenfeld bunker K101 for the first time

Cologne, 10.03.2026 - A high-rise bunker becomes an art gallery: from April 17 to 19, Bunker K101 in Cologne-Ehrenfeld will be transformed into a three-day art market for contemporary art with over 30 artists.

After two successful editions in Cologne's Südstadt district, the art market is now moving to Ehrenfeld. More than 30 artists will present their work in the rooms of the former bunker, which will be completely filled for the event. Visitors can expect an open format between exhibition, market and meeting space.

The Art Bazaar deliberately does not see itself as a classic gallery exhibition, but rather as a lively art market that focuses on direct exchange. People interested in art can talk to the artists, learn about the background to the works - and purchase works directly on site.

First Art Bazaar in Ehrenfeld

With the move to Ehrenfeld, Art Bazaar continues its development and at the same time establishes the first art market with its approach and concept in the district. The industrial character of the bunker forms a deliberate contrast to the previous editions in Südstadt.

The event takes place over three regular art market days - without a classic vernissage.

ART FAIRY - Installation on the commercialization of art

With the installation "ART FAIRY", artist Kristine Bento Monteiro and digital artist Christine Bolz present a work that takes a critical look at the increasing commercialization of the art world.

The installation combines performance and digital imagery and poses questions about the relationship between artistic freedom, market logic and value creation in the art world.

As a deliberate counterpoint to the market concept of the Art Bazaar, "ART FAIRY" invites visitors to reflect on the mechanisms of the art market.

Art for every budget

The Art Bazaar continues to pursue a deliberately low-threshold approach: every participating artist offers at least one work for less than 50 euros. This is intended to make art accessible to people who otherwise rarely visit a gallery.

The artistic spectrum ranges from:

The Art Bazaar combines art and social commitment:

Together, 10% of the artists' sales proceeds will be donated to Street Angels Cologne e. V. (#jederkanneinEngelsein).

The first 100 euros of each artist's sales are excluded from this, so that the artists' own production costs can be covered first.

Organizers

The Art Bazaar is organized by the artist Kristine Bento Monteiro and the cultural producer Mike Ezekiel Sanchez Leonardi. The aim of the project is to establish a regular platform for contemporary art in Cologne that brings artists and the public into direct contact.
