In the organizer's words:
The Cologne City Council has decided to plan an addiction help center in Südstadt. With consumption rooms, psychosocial and medical advice, day-structuring measures and emergency sleeping facilities, the aim is to respond to the intensification of the open drug scene in Cologne. An important part of the concept is the protection of the neighborhood.
The plans have triggered concerns and fears, particularly among residents. However, there are also voices that - despite all the questions - support the establishment of the addiction help center in view of the suffering and the necessary support of people suffering from addiction. The evening offers the opportunity to hear experiences from other cities as well as perspectives from science and people with experience of addiction. The aim is to provide a realistic view of the opportunities and risks of the facility on the way to the addiction help center.
