FOR PERSONAL REASONS
D: Madubuko Diakité, USA 1972, OF | digital | 30 min
ON NOAH'S BLUETY RAINBOW WE DANCE by Monageng "Vice" Motshabi deals with a justice system based on colonial legacy. A post-Mandela story, partly shot in Berlin, directed by Lara-Sophie Milagro - member and artistic director of the producer collective Label Noir - in which many references to German post-colonial history emerge. Diakité originally got the idea for the story of FOR PERSONAL REASONS from a newspaper article. With its theme of police brutality, its relentless voiceover and unseen Black Panther footage, the film is a rare gem that deserves its place in the canon of African-American films.
In the presence of Lara-Sophie Milagro and Dela Dabulamanzi (Label Noir)
