Ausstellung: Im ewigen Jetzt - Sammlungen und Verwandlungen

In the organizer's words:

From May 10, the Baukunstarchiv NRW will be showing the exhibition "Davoud Sarfaraz: In the Eternal Now - Collections and Transformations". Works by Dortmund artist Davoud Sarfaraz from his extensive 50-year career will be presented.

Davoud Sarfaraz is a wanderer between worlds: born and partly raised in Dasht-e Kavir (Iran), the artist was exposed to the sheer endless expanse of the salt desert for years.

In his early memories, houses, settlements and objects were embedded in the boundless space of the desert. Sarfaraz's paintings often respond to these powerful spatial experiences. Architectural elements become formative carriers of meaning in his oeuvre.

The show at the Baukunstarchiv NRW documents how biographical ruptures and spiritual collecting have repeatedly led Davoud Sarfaraz to change and seek new ways of artistic expression.

Mythical figures and historical reminiscences of Eastern and Western traditions appear on his canvases in a modern guise. Also on display are colorful paintings in which the artist Davoud Sarfaraz celebrates life, freedom and space.
