BUJA brings art to the people and shows works not only in galleries, but also in urban spaces. His series of works range from sensationalist media and global politics to pop culture and street art. He removes figures from their original context, transforms, combines and rearranges them.
BUJA's art is irritating, thought-provoking and opens up new perspectives on the everyday and the familiar. With a mocking, witty and often brazen approach, he criticizes politics, religion and society in no uncertain terms. He denounces status symbols, consumerism and the "must have" culture and uses stencils and spray paint to formulate his artistic commentaries on world events. His works are large-format, explosive and striking and are reminiscent of the works of Michel Majerus, Andy Warhol, Sigmar Polke and Banksy.
The artist René Burjack was born in Heidelberg in 1978. From 2000 to 2005, he studied art under Prof. Mario Urlaß at the Heidelberg University of Education. After his studies, he appeared in public with various art actions and under different artist names. Since 2011, he has created numerous works under the artist name BUJA. BUJA stands for consistent painting that is positioned on walls in public spaces and at the same time unfolds its effect on traditional image carriers.
With the basic philosophy "Art should go to the people", BUJA dissolves the boundaries between art and living space and presents his works not only in exhibition spaces and galleries, but also in urban spaces and off-spaces. In addition to numerous works in public spaces, his works can be seen in solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe. Many of his works are in private and public collections.
The exhibition spaces are accessible during general hotel opening hours. A visit to the exhibition can be combined with a visit to a cultural event or the restaurant to create a special evening program. Free admission.
