Ausstellung "Surrrrealität"

In the organizer's words:

The exhibition "Surrrreality" brings together six contemporary artists whose works reveal surreal tendencies. They are not interested in a neo-romantic, backward-looking view of the world or art history, but in an examination of the contradictory, the antagonistic. Surrealism, which emerged a hundred years ago, is seen in cultural history as an artistic response to a reality that is fundamentally rejected. A super-reality, i.e. surrealism, is sought. Even in our present day, heterogeneous, sometimes contradictory facts and developments collide. Many people have difficulties not only with the present, but also with negative predictions for the future. The four "r "s in the exhibition title are derived from the frequently used grrrr, thus signaling frustration, anger but also rage in the confrontation with our time. In a way, surrealist tendencies in contemporary art today comment on the disintegration of a traditional rational order.
