VONOVIA AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY NO. 8

What does "home" mean in a present in which belonging, identity and realities of life are increasingly in flux? From May 2 to 17, 2026, the VONOVIA AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY NO. 8 exhibition at the Trudi Kreativ Cathedral in Essen will showcase six outstanding photographic positions that illuminate the topic from different artistic perspectives. With works by Ute Behrend, Maria Bolz, Michael Kohls, Jana Islinger, Christina Stohn and Stella Weiß & Rosa Burczyk.

The works were created as part of the VONOVIA AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY master class and combine artistic, documentary and personal approaches to the universal theme. At the same time, they open up perspectives on current social issues. The exhibition is curated by Dr. Reinhard Spieler, Director of the Sprengel Museum Hannover, together with students from the Hochschule der bildenden Künste Essen, who are actively involved in curating and organizing the exhibition.
