Julia Eckert guides you through the exhibition.
If you think about play spaces, one thing stands out: they are by no means a given. This applies to spaces in which people can develop and connect with the world. And also to spaces that enable self-determined action. Spaces are precious, they often have to be fought for and defended. Inspired by works from the GfZK collection and invited artistic positions, the exhibition deals with the potential of such spaces, their beauty and also the contradictions inherent in them. It brings together different forms of expression and artistic media, including performance, conceptual art, installation, drawing, video and photography. In their works, the artists deal with social and institutional structures. They question privileges, shift viewpoints and set existing orders in motion.
