Axel Flóvent

Axel Flóvent is an Icelandic indie folk artist from the northern coastal town of Húsavík, to which he recently returned after living in Reykjavík and abroad for several years.
Deeply rooted in the vast landscapes of his homeland, Axel's music combines melancholic indie folk with Nordic atmospheres and subtle influences from indie rock, ambient and electronic music. His sound is often described as a gentle intersection between Bon Iver, Adrianne Lenker and Bombay Bicycle Club - yet remains unmistakably his own.

At the heart of Axel's work is introspection, emotional clarity and a deeply therapeutic approach to songwriting. His writing process often begins in a very reduced way: with guitar or piano and improvised lyrics "nonsense until it makes sense" in search of the emotional truth in every line. How a line feels is more important to him than what it literally means. Fragments of thought and half-finished ideas are allowed to guide him, even if he does not yet fully understand them.
