BeaTogether | Masterclass

In the organizer's words:

The masterclass, is open to dancers, acrobats, musicians, actors, mask performers, improvisers, and visual artists.
Here, they will expand their artistic repertoire, discover new forms of expression, and learn to combine their art with other disciplines-live, authentic, and inspiring.
In addition to the three main areas that will be explored: movement, vocal improvisation, and acting, there will also be smaller excursions into art forms such as poetry slam.
However, a special component of the masterclass will be learning the multidisciplinary sign language "sound painting."
The masterclass will conclude on Saturday evening with a joint show in which all disciplines merge into a new whole-a unique expression of collective creativity.

What is Soundpainting?
Soundpainting is a technique of improvisational composition developed since 1974 by New York composer Walter Thompson.
It is a universal, multidisciplinary live composition sign language for musicians, actors, dancers, and visual artists. Currently (2024), the language comprises more than 1,600 gestures that are used by the soundpainter/composer to indicate the type of material desired by the performers.
The conductor composes in real time, using the gestures to shape the composition in any way desired. Sometimes the soundpainter knows what he/she will receive from the performers, and sometimes he/she does not-the elements of specificity and chance. Thus, he/she composes with what is happening in the moment, whether expected or not.
This project focuses on bringing together different types of art and performance. Through a mix of international and Hamburg-based freelance artists and students, we hope to foster valuable exchange among participants. We want to create a community that connects with others in other countries, brings people together, and creates shows that break all the rules and take your breath away.

The masterclass will be taught by Felipe Ortiz (sound painting + movement) and Linda Habitante (sound painting + vocal improv) from Bogota, who have already successfully brought sound painting projects to numerous performances in South America. The topics will be complemented by acting with Viviane Eggers and poetry slam with slammer Lennart Hamann - SLAMPOOL

Requirements:
As an improvisational artist: You have been improvising for at least two years and perform regularly on stage.
As an artist in other art/performance forms: Please bring at least one year of regular training and/or a professional approach to your art form.

The masterclass will be taught in English.

The participation fee for the masterclass is:
€ 355,- normal price for working people, pensioners and severely disabled people
(€ 275,- reduced price for unemployed people ALG I and II, recipients of citizens' benefit, schoolchildren, students)

The Masterclass is taught in English. However, the teachers also speak German and Spanish. Translation assistance is always available for questions.
