The Italian Cultural Institute Cologne presents the third edition of In Sala. Cineclub italiano with a monthly screening hosted by Eugenio Riversi entitled Zum Richtigen hin.

The new series of Cineclub In Sala begins in January with a special evening: the film Berlinguer. La grande ambizione (2024) by Andrea Segre will be shown in the presence of screenwriter Marco Pettenello. The biopic about the famous leader of the Italian Communist Party (PCI) during the turbulent period from 1973 to 1978 marks the start of a series of films whose protagonists demand justice as recognition of their own dignity and desires despite adverse circumstances. Greta Scarano's film, La vita da grandi (2025), tells of just such longings of an autistic man. In contrast, the protagonists of Napoli New York (2024), directed by Gabriele Salvatore and based on a script by Federico Fellini and Tullio Pinelli, are two Neapolitan orphans who emigrate to the United States at the end of the 1940s. Finally, in Cento domeniche (2023), director Antonio Albanese himself plays the leading role of a skilled worker who unexpectedly finds himself struggling with great financial difficulties. In other words, a cinema series that uses four different stories to inspire reflection and show the desire of the protagonists to assert themselves and fightfor their goals despite adverse circumstances.

The screenings will take place in the theater hall of the IIC Cologne. Before the movie there will be a short introduction in Italian. Afterwards there will be a small drink in the foyer of the institute.

Attendance is free of charge.

The historian Eugenio Riversi has been working at the Institute of History at the University of Bonn since 2011. Since 2013, he has also been involved in the programming and presentation of the "Italian Film Series" at the Institute of Romance Studies there. He has been working at the Kinemathek Bonn since 2018.
