Bertram Engel is one of the most influential drummers in German rock history. For almost five decades, he has been a musical companion to Udo Lindenberg and Peter Maffay - two artists who could hardly be more different. Bruce Springsteen even called him "one of the best drummers in the world".

In his reading performance "Mit alten Männern spiel' ich nicht!", Bertram Engel takes the audience behind the scenes of these extraordinary careers. Based on his autobiography of the same name, he tells of legendary studio moments, creative friction, friendships and successes with humor, depth and great openness - straight from the horse's mouth.

The performance is more than just a reading:
Bertram Engel combines personal stories with live music and plays songs he wrote for Udo Lindenberg, Peter Maffay and other greats. He shows himself not only as a drummer, but also as a pianist and singer. The audience learns how pop songs are created, how they change - and sometimes become classics.
