Researching, providing and managing knowledge

Lectures on library and knowledge management at Siegburg City Library

Knowledge is power. What used to be true is still true today. However, unlike in the past, the challenge today is not in acquiring knowledge, but in managing the sheer volume of information. It is a question of distinguishing the right from the wrong, the relevant from the irrelevant and of processing or making information and sources available as required. Knowledge management is becoming increasingly important, setting trends and influencing areas of activity and job profiles. In the process, even well-known professions such as "librarian" are taking on a new meaning: under a new name, they are being given an expanded range of tasks and new work tools, e.g. through artificial intelligence (AI).
