Beyond the Roots LARGE ENSEMBLE

Beyond the Roots: Can you go beyond your roots in search of new music? And what lies beyond the roots? The Beyond the Roots Large Ensemble is a transcultural ensemble dedicated to musical dialog across cultural boundaries. Instruments from different musical cultures enter into an exchange and combine to create an orchestral sound. Influences from Persian, Indian or Japanese musical culture mingle with Turkish folklore and Central European artistic languages; elements of chamber music amalgamate with contemporary jazz. The composer Mahan Mirarab grew up in Tehran and lives in Vienna. Listening to him, you intuitively understand the language his music speaks.
