"I know one thing for sure: singing is like flying. I really am a bird, and it's not a dream." Inspired by Alan Parker's 1984 anti-war film, Katja Erdmann-Rajski's dance theater tells Birdie's story through dance. Traumatized by war, he lives in a double solitary confinement - locked in a psychiatric cell and locked away in his fantasy world as a "bird man". He is only freed from this isolation by his friend Al, who is also traumatized by the war, and who tells him about their childhood experiences together. Only then does Birdie really fly. Only then do they both escape their trauma. Dancing into life.
