"Blue Note - A Story of Modern Jazz"

As part of International Jazz Day, we are showing the film "Blue Note", which tells the story of Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff - two German emigrants from Berlin who founded a jazz label in New York in 1939. They turned their love of jazz into a profession and found a new home in the music of African-American America.

With courage, passion and an extraordinary sense of quality, they recorded musicians who were still unknown at the time. Today, their recordings - with artists such as Thelonious Monk, Art Blakey and Herbie Hancock - stand for the rise of modern jazz and are among the most important in music history.
