Cinema Neue Ziegelei: "Toni and Helene" (2024)

Helene (Christine Ostermayer), once a celebrated theater diva, lives in seclusion in a retirement home. At over 80 and diagnosed with a terminal illness, she plans her final journey - but her nephew (Manuel Rubey) refuses to accompany her.

Unexpectedly, Toni (Margarethe Tiesel), who is temporarily living in the residence after a fall, comes into the picture. Their initial dislike soon turns into a deep friendship, and the two unlikely ladies are soon sitting together in a vintage car on their way to Switzerland.

"Dying is not for cowards - but neither is life" is a warm-hearted comedy about friendship, courage to face life and the courage to start again and again.
