As part of the X. Week of Italian Cuisine Worldwide(X Settimana della Cucina Italiana nel Mondo), the Italian Cultural Institute Cologne is organizing an encounter with Peter Peter, who will be presenting his book Blutorangen. A Journey to the Citrus Fruits of Italy (Wagenbach, 2024). The event will take place on Wednesday, November 26 at 7 p.m. in the institute's theater hall.
With anecdotes, recipes and history, the author will take us into the cosmos of Italian citrus fruits. For northerners, the epitome of the south, the freshness of summer as well as the Christmas longing for fragrant warmth: lemons, mandarins, blood oranges, bergamots, bitter oranges, citrons - the variety of citrus fruits cultivated in Bella Italia is endless. And they all have their own often magical places, such as the cliffs of the Amalfitana, the shores of Lake Garda or the volcanic terraces of Mount Etna.
Munich-based gastronomy lecturer Peter Peter won the ENIT prize for the best guide to Italy. He has published literary guides, a history of the Cucina Italiana and, in 2024, the Agrumenbuch Blutorangen. In the podcast MachtHunger and in Rotary magazine, he provides information about culinary spas (pietropietro.de)
