Braake + Support (Luis Schwamm)

Braake - that's a five-piece figure who walk with sure steps up a dark side road of German pop. They were inspired by the folk and rock of the 70s, with a bit of kraut and sand blowing behind them. Benno Bings, Till Schomburg and Gregor Zenns got to know each other in their youth on the outskirts of the city and stayed at the guitar, bass and drums. An elusive lethargy and disguised anger has remained with Braake to this day from the evening on the school roof when they put together their first song. With Camillo Kießig, a second guitar was added to the songs one day, so artfully that one would like to say elaborately. And last but not least, Julian Colin, a producer with an unmistakable feel for this special music, joined the now complete band. What speaks to us from Braake is an unobtrusively attractive stubbornness: a thread that you can't help but find between your own fingers - spun from dry insight, casual defiance and poetic imagination. And we will say: please, thank you, welcome. Yes, of course! And: What was that again?

Luis Schwamm is a singer-songwriter and producer from Cologne. Inspired by the US American emo and indie scene of the 90s and early 2000s, he writes songs because he feels the urge to do so - hence the urgency in his songs. Luis oscillates between intimacy and intensity, pathos and everydayness, emotional darkness and energetic optimism in a purposefully realized organic-intimate lo-fi sound that is reminiscent of songwriting role models such as Elliott Smith or indie icons like Phoebe Bridgers and the indie folk scene around them. As soothing as the baritone voice she sings sounds, Luis' songs hurt at times, simply because they are told well enough.
Luis' debut album "alte möbel und junge nervositäten" was released by Backseat in the fall of 2024. Flowery and devastating biopsies of his own trials and tribulations, where you don't know whether you want to laugh, cry or hum along.
