Broken Consort – Musik von Thomas Morley mit der Capella Fidicinia

In the organizer's words:

The collection "Consort Lessons" by Thomas Morley was a bestseller in England around 1600. In it, Thomas Morley published sheet music of the best-known and most popular pieces of music of the time in a special arrangement: 3 melody instruments (treble viol, flute and bass viol) were accompanied by the bandora and the cittern, two instruments with metal strings similar to the lute. They were joined by a lute, which played the most virtuoso ornaments to the pieces. This was the classic instrumentation of the "mixed" or "broken consort".

Capella Fidicinia is delighted to have won the internationally renowned musician Lee Santana for the bandora part alongside Stephan Rath on the lute. Also taking part are: Ulrike Wolf (flute), Kathleen Lang (bass viol), Susanne Herre (cittern). The treble viol and the direction of the concert is in the hands of Georg Zeike.
