An exciting evening with a lecture and discussion on the question of what significance Osho's practices and ideas still have today and how they continue to have an effect in different contexts.

Description

Henriette Hanky recently completed her doctorate on the subject of "Buddha fields in transition". The starting point of her work was the questions of what different forms the legacy of the sannyas movement takes in the present and what it means to be a sannyasin today.

To answer these questions, Henriette visited centers, retreats, festivals and events in Germany, Norway, Denmark and India, participated in observations and conducted interviews. In her work, she also looks in detail at the development of the Osho UTA Institute in Cologne and compares it with the work of Osho Risk in Denmark, among other things.

About Henriette Hanky

Henriette Hanky is a DAAD research fellow in Religious Studies at the University of Freiburg. She completed her doctorate in 2024 in Bergen on the post-Osho sannyas scene and previously taught in Norway. Her research focuses on contemporary guru and meditation movements, religion and spirituality in Europe and India, and qualitative methods.
