Cologne as a theater city, that is the theme of this series. While the Offenbachplatz construction site marks a large empty space, it also reminds us of the richness that has taken place and is expected to take place here.

With Hansgünther Heyme's directorship, we look back on a particularly political era at Schauspiel Köln. As a director, artistic director and lecturer, theater work for him was always both: the power of language and stagecraft, but also creative work with and against resistance. He loves to set things on fire as a means of changing thoughts and habits.
Peter W. Marx draws from Heyme's personal archive, which is preserved in the Theaterwissenschaftliche Sammlung (TWS).
