The story of Max and Moritz is one of the best-selling children's books, and fans of all ages are enthusiastic about their disobedience and resistance to the authorities. But what about current resistance movements - and what do caricatures and graffiti have in common?

Since the early 1980s, a distinct scene has developed around spraying, hip-hop and skating. It is lively, diverse and unruly. Our graffiti workshop with Jonas Wömpner provides insights into the origins of graffiti culture, current trends and the local scene - but above all it's about creativity and a common motif that will ultimately fill a wall at the FAUST cultural center. Plenty of paint, spray cans and caps are the tools for this, and both curious beginners and creative minds with previous experience are invited.

Jonas Wömpner, who grew up mainly in Linden, Berlin, Rostock and Dresden, has been spraying for 25 years and has been making a living from his independent painting and youth work for over 10 years. After further training as a de-escalation trainer with a focus on racism and violence, he founded the Graffiti Network Hannover in 2018. At the same time, he launched the "Urban Nature Festival" at the "Ihme Hall", which he called for as a legal graffiti area on the banks of the Ihme below the Spinnereistraße bridge. Last year, he painted the first basketball court in northern Germany in cooperation with the OurCourt association on Welfenplatz.
