They are a typical German Berlin family. Each member survives in their own universe. But under the influence of the mysterious Syrian housekeeper Farrah, the Engels' lives change radically. Tom Tykwer's first feature film in almost 10 years opened this year's Berlinale and was nominated for the German Film Award in the "Best Sound" category, among others. What role does the omnipresent pattering of rain play in the drama? How does the sound design hold the stylistically diverse film together? And: What means does the sound design use to spark the poetry of this monumental work? In the bvft workshop discussion, sound designer Frank Kruse and sound mixer Matthias Lempert will provide exciting insights into the sound design process for Das Licht and answer the audience's questions.
