What it's really like to become a mother when everyone, really everyone, adds their two cents
Carolin Kebekus takes the piss out of herself, society - and all mothers and fathers. Because when it comes to having and bearing children, everyone seems to have a say without being asked.
Pictures of beautiful newborn babies sleeping peacefully. Of flawlessly beautiful, relaxed mothers immediately after giving birth, gazing lovingly at their offspring. Of proud fathers bringing flowers and decorations as if they were at least the Three Wise Men.
These images meet reality pretty much without restraint: blood, sweat, sleepless nights - and a lot of boo-boos. Then it helps a lot to see the funny side of the full diaper. Why pregnancy and birth are still fraught with many taboos and false assumptions, what can happen and be thrown at you as a pregnant woman and mother, what you hear, read and are told without being asked - because everyone really does know better - is described in this book with a good dose of self-irony and yet an unflinching view.
